Open Throughout The Winter

April 2017

Superb in every way. Belinda is the perfect hostess. Adults, children and horses loved it. It’s a paradise if you like big spaces. This was our third visit and we hope to make it an annual tradition.

2016 Mobile Review

Last week, we went for the first time to the Glamping and the Munny trail was up to our expectations (.. and more). The location was breathtaking and we had fun !! Belinda was so sweet, helpful and welcoming! For all off-piste enthusiasts looking for a trip with your four-legged friend, the Munny Trail is a must !! The horses enjoyed it as much as us (loads of fresh grass for them to nibble). Everything was so relaxed and nothing was a problem. The on-site facilities were excellent and the yurt we stayed in was immaculate and very comfortable! I really can not recommend the Munny trail to people enough !! Even people who do not have horses and who just want a relaxing, enjoyable and different weekend are at the rendezvous! Thank you very much Belinda, see you soon

Have you ever dreamed of a mini-break with your horse or pony ?

Ride Out, pajama party, barbecue and glamping

We provide accommodation for horse and rider in the form of log cabin yurts. Glamping is essentially a chic campsite or a glamorous campsite. We have 5 tents that are all nicely furnished with proper bedding and linens. Each tent has a double bed and two single beds and the log cabin has a double bed and three single beds. The campsite can accommodate up to 21 people. You can rest assured of your comfort as there are toilets, a hot shower, a barbecue area, a fully equipped kitchen / dining room and to top off a fantastic campfire where you can roast marshmallows and relax in the evening after your barbecue. If your group is over 21, we can provide a tent or a truck parked in front of the glamping. The price per tent or truck parked is 20 €.

Your horse can stay in one of our five comfortable stables or settle in one of three enclosed garden enclosures. They sleep on straw and can also provide you with hay for a supplement of 5 €. All you will need to pack is that your horses are feeding hard. Stable or paddock 15 € per night and 20 € with hay.

Travel itinerary

Day 1

Arrive and settle yourself and your horse in. Your horse can sleep in a large granite stable with a comfy bed of straw under him or else he can go in one of the walled garden paddocks which have field shelters in each.

You may like to take in the scenery of the area immediately. If you wish to do this you can ride out around the yellow route which is about 1 hour in length and takes about an hour. I nice intro for your horses. You will take in views of Lugnaquilla and Mount Leinster along the way and if you are lucky you will spot some of our resident Buzzards flying overhead. On the way home you can pop into the local Pub ‘The Crablane’ tether your horses and have a quick beverage.

After settling your horse in for the evening, take a shower and prepare for your glamping bbq and campfire. If it’s a restaurant you are looking for we recommend you go to Sharoe Restaurant locally. If you are cooking in the kitchen also has an oven, hob and microwave. After dinner, light your campfire, toast some marshmallows and kick back and watch the sun go down. There will be beautiful sounds from the woods and if you listen carefully you may even hear the long eared barn owl behind your tent.

Day 2

This morning after your delicious camping breakfast you may like to ride out the full Munny Trail Red Route which is a  12km loop with optional x country fences en-route. There are many fences including, wagon wheels, a sunken road, a stream, ditches, a cottage, a palisade, fallen logs, tiger traps, coffins, bullfinches, banks and plenty more. All of these fences are optional and range in height between a log on the ground to 1.10m. There really is something for every ability of horse and rider. Most of the ride is off road however there is some roadwork. If jumping all the fences you would want a relatively fit horse. The Crablane Pub is just off the Red Route if you wanted to stop for a beverage en route. There are picnic benches outside and they allow horses.

After the ride the horses can go out to the field for a roll and a graze while you prepare for some sightseeing in the area. We also have some fantastic places to visit including:

Rathwood and The Chocolate Garden – Fantastic place to shop with delicious food for lunch and breakfast, woodland walk and retail areas. The Chocolate Garden  for chocolate making workshops. (5 minutes’ drive from the farm)

Altamont Gardens – Not to be missed, a stunning garden and walk (located 12 minutes’ drive from the farm)

Huntington Castle – Castle and Gardens set in Clonegal village where Sharoe Restaurant is  (15 minutes’ drive from the farm)

Tinahely Farm Shop and Tomnafinogue Woods –  Walk along a river as far as Tinahely village and eat in the Farm Shop. A really enjoyable afternoons activity for the healthy minded. On the way home stop for a drink in the Dying Cow Pub, one of Ireland’s best pubs located on the Wicklow Way Walk. (10 minute drive from the farm)

Tinahely Riding Club – Hosting competitions year round on a fantastic 80 x 80 arena (15 minutes away)

Day 3

Treat yourself by heading to Rathwood for breaky and then take the horses out for  quite hack. Check out from the tent is 11am but you can leave your bags in the office til you are ready to go.  Pack up your goods and hit the road feeling revived and refreshed after your equestrian mini break glamping!

Went on a Horsie holiday. Belinda the owner is a very kind and helpful person. The Yurts and Bell tents are warm and beautifully decorated. The surroundings are wonderful . We had breakfast in the shared kitchen ….had everything you need to cook with. We bbq’d at night, sat by the fire for a sing song and topped it off with Smores!!
