Ride Out

The Munny Trail  is a 12km loop around  600 acres of parkland , tillage and woodland set in the Wicklow Hills between Shillelagh and Tullow. The ride out is for horse owners looking to spend a day in a non-competitive relaxed environment with outstanding scenery. Located just off the Wicklow Way this is like a horse owners very own Wicklow Way. We have set up over 60 fences along the marked  route all of which are optional to jump and varying in height from 50 cm to 1.15m. We have a broad variety of fences including trakehners, bullfinches, steps and banks.  The ride lasts approximately 1.30- 2 hours and costs €25. I’m afraid e do not rent horses.

The Trails

Red

12km in length and riding along bridle paths, stubble fields, wood paths, grass headlands, through streams and open green fields this is a rare opportunity of true freedom with your horse. There will be views of Lugnaquilla and Mount Leinster and total peace and tranquillity as you ride. You can expect to see  buzzards flying overhead, cuckoos calling, woodpeckers, fallow deer if you are up in the morning early and even the odd mink.  There are approximately 55 optional fences including, wagon wheels, a sunken road, steps, a stream, a trakehner, ditches, a cottage, a palisade, fallen logs, tiger traps, coffins, bullfinches, banks and plenty more. We have a schooling park for those who event or want to prepare for hunter trials. The cost of the Munny Trail Red Trail is €25pp

The Crablane Pub is located just off the Red Route and has outside benches so you can have a  break along the route of the trail.

Yellow

The yellow trail is shorter and suitable for children, nervous riders and young horses. The fences are about 6ocm-90cm and all are optional. This is the perfect trail if you just want to go for an hour. The price is €15 pp. For adults accompanying children there are some nice bigger fences en route if you want to jump them too. The yellow trail is suitable for children on a lead rein.
